Wedding Photography
Not just photos. A feeling you can return to.
Your wedding day is more than a timeline or a checklist. It’s a blur of emotion, quiet moments, deep breaths, belly laughs, unexpected tears, and everything in between. I’m there to move with it, gently and intuitively, capturing things as they unfold rather than staging or interrupting them.
My approach is calm and observant, with just the right amount of guidance when you need it. Whether you're celebrating with a big crowd or keeping it intimate, I focus on the moments that feel real and honest. The ones you might not even realise are happening until you see them later.
I’m here to create images that feel like you, that hold onto the energy of the day, and that still feel good decades from now.
What I Offer
Every wedding is unique – the setting, the people, the energy, the little details that make it yours. We believe your photography should reflect that, which is why no two weddings we capture ever look alike. Our wedding photography packages are designed to be flexible and tailored to suit the flow of your day, whether you’re planning an intimate elopement in Northland, a relaxed coastal celebration, or a full-day gathering with everyone you love. You’ll find options for different levels of coverage, with the freedom to shape them so they fit exactly what you need. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for here, please get in touch. We’re always happy to create something just for you.

My Approach
- My Style
- I’m drawn to the real stuff – the laughter, the quiet glances, the moments in between. My wedding style is relaxed and intuitive, blending in when needed and gently guiding when it counts. I won’t over-direct or force anything; instead, I’ll keep things flowing and natural. My editing is clean, true to life, and timeless – so your photos feel just as meaningful decades from now as they do today.
- My Philosophy
- Your wedding isn’t a photoshoot – it’s a story unfolding in real time. I believe in being present, paying attention, and capturing what matters most to you. That might mean stepping back to let things unfold naturally, or stepping in with quiet direction during portraits or family photos. Either way, I’ll be there with intention, care, and an eye for what makes your day yours – not anyone else’s version of it.
- What sets me apart
- I bring more than just experience – I bring a trained eye, thoughtful presence, and years of working with care. With a degree in Applied Arts and a background in photographing everything from exhibitions to intimate ceremonies, I know how to read light, capture feeling, and work with precision. My past role handling and documenting precious artworks taught me to notice the details others might miss – and to treat every moment with the respect it deserves. I’m not here to follow trends. I’m here to document your day in a way that feels true, considered, and lasting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Once you’ve decided to go ahead, I’ll send through an online booking link with a contract and invoice. A $1,500 non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your date. The balance is due four weeks before your wedding. Payment plans are also available – just ask.
It depends on the shape of your day and what matters most to you. If you’re having a small celebration or elopement, 2-3 hours might cover everything you need – ceremony, portraits, and some extra time to breathe. If you're after a fuller story – from getting ready to the dance floor – I recommend 9-12 hours.
Not sure what you need yet? Just tell me roughly what’s happening, and I’ll help you figure out the best option.
There’s no hard limit. I don’t hold back – if it’s good, it’s in. As a general guide, you’ll receive around 50-70 images per hour of coverage, carefully edited and delivered in a high-resolution online gallery.
I aim to deliver your full gallery within 6–8 weeks of your wedding. If it’s off-season, you might get them sooner. I also send a small preview within 48 hours so you have something to share (or just stare at for hours – totally allowed).
You’ll receive a private, easy-to-use online gallery where you can download high-res and web-sized versions of every image. You can also order prints directly from there, or share the gallery with friends and family. It stays online for 12 months, but I always recommend downloading and backing everything up.
You’re not alone. Most of my couples say this. I work in a way that’s relaxed, calm, and real – no stiff poses or forced smiles. We’ll find the good light, I’ll give you gentle direction if you need it, and mostly just let you be yourselves. It’s not about performing – it’s about being present.
Yes. I’m based in Whangārei and travel often throughout Northland, Auckland, and across Aotearoa for weddings. Travel within the Whangārei area is included. For other locations, travel is calculated separately and added to your quote. I charge $1.17/km (return) + travel time. If flights or accommodation are needed, we’ll chat through what makes the most sense.
All final images are edited in my style – clean, true-to-life tones with depth and warmth. I’ll take care of minor fixes like temporary blemishes, but I don’t do heavy retouching or major alterations such as adding or removing people from images. If you need more specific edits, we can absolutely discuss that ahead of time – additional retouching can be arranged and added on if needed.
Yes, for larger weddings or when there’s a lot happening in multiple locations, I can bring a second photographer. This is something we can add to your package. My second shooters are trusted professionals who work seamlessly with me to make sure nothing gets missed.
I won’t disappear mid-vows or during speeches. I always build in a little buffer and am happy to be flexible within reason. If things run significantly over, extra time can be added at $375/hour, and I’ll always check in before that happens so you’re not surprised by anything.
Some of my favourite images have been taken in wild weather. I always come prepared – with umbrellas, backup plans, and the ability to pivot quickly. If you’re up for it, we can embrace the conditions. If not, we find cover and keep things simple. Weather won’t stop us from making great images.
Absolutely. You can order prints directly from your gallery or through me if you’d like help choosing the best sizes and paper types. Fine art albums are also available as an optional extra – beautifully made, lay-flat, and designed to last for generations. I’ll walk you through the process when you’re ready.
I don’t need a long Pinterest list – that’s what you hire me for. But if there are specific things you want photographed (e.g. heirlooms, people who matter most, or a particular moment), I’d love to know. I also work with a detailed family photo list to make sure we keep that part of the day organised and calm.
Yes – if you’re happy for me to share with them. I ask that any vendors using my images credit me as “Photography by Nimmy” or tag @bynimmy when posting online. For commercial use or publication, they will need separate licensing.
I use natural light whenever possible, but I’m equipped with off-camera lighting for when the sun goes down or if we’re in a darker venue. It’s all used in a way that still feels natural and unobtrusive.
