Hi, I’m Nimmy!

I’m a photographer based in Aotearoa, working across art, personal, and commercial photography. My style is honest and intuitive – guided by light, connection, and a deep appreciation for the small details that often go unnoticed. Whether I’m documenting an exhibition, capturing a wedding, or creating branding images, I approach each project with care and curiosity.

Photography, to me, is about more than taking beautiful images. It’s noticing the little things others might miss, feeling the mood of a space, and telling a story with care.

I’ve been working professionally for over eight years now, but my connection with art goes back much further.

I studied Applied Arts and spent years in galleries and museums, including my time as a Registrar at the Whangārei Art Museum. Caring for some of Aotearoa’s most treasured artworks taught me precision, respect, and to slow down and really look. That still shapes how I see and document the world today.

These days I do this full‑time, often alongside my partner, Drew. He’s a teacher, brilliant with kids and families, and brings a calm, friendly energy to our shoots. Together we make space for people to feel comfortable and seen, so the images reflect something real.

Whether it’s a quiet moment between people, the rhythm of a live event, or the detail of an artist’s practice, I approach each project with intention – working with individuals, families, artists, organisations, and businesses across Aotearoa to create images that feel grounded, thoughtful, and true.

My Approach

  • My Style
  • I’m drawn to what’s real. The unposed, the in-between, the way light falls when no one’s watching. My approach is relaxed and intuitive. I’ll quietly observe when it makes sense and gently step in with direction when needed. I keep my editing clean and true to life so your images still feel like you years down the line. No trendy filters or distractions, just honest, timeless photography that reflects how it felt to be there.
  • My Philosophy
  • Photography isn’t a formula. Every story is different, and so is the way I photograph it. At the core of what I do is intention – being present, noticing the details, and making images that actually mean something. Sometimes that means stepping back and letting the day unfold. Other times, it’s about slowing down and creating with purpose. Either way, I bring care, thoughtfulness and respect to every shoot, whether it’s personal or professional.
  • What Sets Me Apart
  • This has never been just a hobby or a side gig. I studied photography as part of my degree in Applied Arts and have spent years perfecting how I see and how I work. My time as a gallery registrar taught me how to handle things with precision, looking after precious artworks and documenting them with care. That experience shaped everything I do now. I bring that same level of thought and accuracy into every image I create, whether it’s your wedding day, your brand launch, or your latest exhibition.
